About Sarah.

Sarah is a communications specialist who spends her free time walking dogs, drinking tea and getting lost in nature.

Currently carrying out her PhD research in the future of reading, Sarah is passionate about stories that engage people and inspire action. She was selected as Writer-in-Residence for the Astoria Writers Guild in 2022 and is working on her first novel focused on raising awareness of mental health challenges.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery - air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, "This is what it is to be happy.”
Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

Born in England, Sarah has lived, worked and volunteered on all seven continents of the world – including Antarctica. She is inspired by the ocean, forest and mountains and loves to surf, snowboard and run through the woods as much as she can.

Sarah is passionate about people and the planet, and - with an MSc (distinction) in Ecology and Environmental Sustainability - has spent much of her career working as an ecologist exploring sustainable ways of living for the planet’s growing population.

Having authored numerous research papers and newspaper articles about environmental issues, Sarah is now starting to share her more personal writing across a number of different publications.

In 2020, Sarah launched the ‘How to be Good?’ podcast which explores what it means to be a “good” person in today’s world. For the first series, she interviewed Faith Leaders from around the world with the goal to have this interfaith series cover as many religions of the world as possible. The overall aim of the podcast is to bring people together and increase understanding of, and tolerance for, the different religions, faiths and belief-systems around the world.
